I love live music and travel often to listen to as many new musicians as I can. But over the years, I have had too many experiences of not being able to enjoy the show due to conditions out of my control and definitely out of the musician's control. Many venues are just not very conducive to actually listening to the music. Sometimes people like to talk (or shout) too loudly during shows, making it difficult to hear the music. Other times, there may be a pool table, after work gatherings, bachelorette parties, or drinking games in the same room as the music. And skee-ball machines- do you know how loud they can be? Now, I am not advocating against these things. All I am saying is that, in my experience, this is often what you get in public places. And that paying money to try to support bands and then not being able to hear the music is a bit frustrating. Does anybody else feel frustrated by this?
But no worries- that is why Gravel Road Concerts was started.
